relationships

there was a town in Brierly Hill, in central ENGLAND which had a street "the ridings" where thirty ENGLISH people were baptised with the family names of goymer, fielding, hildreft, wilson, and pennington>>>my companion during this period of time was dennis d white, who now lives in slc and owns a car dealership>>mr. goymer was a diminUtive little englishman with poor health>>>he later died of brain cancer, but he was the kindest man you would want to know>>>in fact his whole family was kind>>>john his oldest son smoked and i came up behind him unbeknownst to him and said"drop that cigarrett" and he nearly jumped out of his skin and threw it to the ground and said if they make me that nervous" i quit" and he did quit>>>oliver was my favorite goymer, he used to follow the "elders" around and want to participate in our missionary discussions...HE LATER BECAME A BRANCH PRESIDENT IN THE LITTLE GrOUP THERE IN BROMSGROVE>>>BERNADETTE WAS THE SWEETHEART OF THE BUNCH>>she was only five but did understand the principles of the gospel>>>mrs. goymer was our mom and with mrs. fielding right next door cooked and straightenen our ties and wrote our parents and was jus "moms" to us...i still remember Mrs. goymer's hugs>>>mr. hildreft had a hunch back and was very self conscience but was baptised just like all 3o>>>>mr' pennington was afraid of water, wilson was on a flat board prostrate because none of his limbs worked properly>>>their wifes all elegant english girls who had the faith of martha and mary>> and their older children over eight all stalwart in obeying our lord>this was over 48 years ago so most of them have probalby left this world execept for bernadette{ she made me a birthday card on my 21st birthday which said"you are my boy friend, elder barlow>>will you marry me?????}i got a big silver key that was suppose to open all the doors in bromsgrove for my twenty first birthday>>>i was finally" of age"....the oldest fielding girl came to america to be a nanny to an american family in provo , utah and used to visit me as i was marrying and getting started in employment>>>she took care of eight children here>>>>her [SANDRA'S }younger SISTERS WERE ALL BEAUTIES AND DEVOTEDLY LISTEN TO "MA" FIELDING as their mentor>>the largest family of the five{11} they were definately the most interesting of the 30.....i never have been back to "the ridings" since i am poor and can't afford it, but i will never forget the street or the people OR THE times>>i wonder if they are still christian at heart????

That was such a nice story (or memory not sure about English right about now) I really enjoyed reading a small glimpse at that street and people. Sounds like there could be a lot more storied from those days.

Thank you for your great comments on my Sick in Bed post :) You put a smile on my face.
Very sorry to hear about your coma! I know the sleep was nice but I hope you won't have to go through that again.

Take care of yourself ♥

A really good and interesting post, my friend. Past memories carry us right along, don't they?

River mentions COMA. What is this about? You went into a COMA? Write me and tell. I love the letters.

Sounds like it was a friendly supportive neighbourhood. How come there were so many English women there? Were they war brides?

Mr. Putz, I liked your cigarette tale. My oldest kids, the twins, threatened to beat my youngest son silly if they ever caught him with a cigarette. He smoked for at least twenty-five years but has stopped now for two.

I hope you can get back there sometime if that is what you really want. There are places in my life that are 'past' and for sure I don't need to go there again.

What is this COMA bit?

Yes, Mr. Putz, I know THAT coma. I was afraid that you had another one recently. Thank you for setting me correct on that. And you had better be good and see the doc.

Get a different one, one that you like. Mine says I can eat anything in moderation and be sure to take my pills. Every now and then he empties his sample drawer and gives me about a six month supply.
